About Annie

I have been playing piano for as long as I can remember. As a child I took piano lessons with my mother. I also grew up singing in the Frederick Children’s Chorus and was involved in many musicals with the Frederick Towne Players (Oliver! and Hairspray to name a few). Along with piano, I was an active member of the school band, playing trumpet, euphonium, and mallet percussion. Upon entering college, I began to study piano with Dr. Yu-Hsuan Liao at Shepherd University. In my time at Shepherd, I played the Euphonium in the Wind Ensemble, sang in the Shepherd Chamber Choir and was the field commander for the Ram Band both my junior and senior year. Additionally, I accompanied both the Chamber Choir and the Camerata Choir on piano, as well as working with instrumentalists as their accompanist including (but not limited to) flute, trumpet, tuba, and trombone. I have also been the pianist for both the Bolivar and Engle United Methodist Churches for about five years.

At Shepherd, I earned my bachelor degrees in both Music Education and Piano Performance. I have been on the deans list of the school in every semester. I was recently awarded the highest academic honor of being the McMurran Scholar and representing the music department.

I began teaching private piano lessons during my undergraduate program through the Shepherd Community Music Program and found my passion in it! It is always a joy to see a student learn the piano and grow in their passion for music and the instrument. I always remember how lessons impacted my life. Watching my students blossom into talented pianists is a joy that is beyond compare. I hope to continue to grow my studio and encourage music in the lives of all students who are wanting and willing to learn.
